The Venture Section represents the fourth stage of the Scouting journey. Venture Scouts
are encourage to plan and implement their own programme under the guidance of a Leader.
Venture Scouts cater for young people between the ages of 15-17 years. The natural
progression after Venture Scouts would be into Rover's or into Leadership. Unfortunately
we do not currently have a Venture Troop in Dun Laoghaire due to both a lack of Leaders
and also there is not currently enough members to support a full Section.
In the past however there has been a strong tradition of Venture Scouts in the Group with
many of our old Ventures acting as Leaders within the various Sections. Venture Scouts
prepares young people for leadership and without such a rich history of Venture Scouting
within the Troop we would probably not have such experienced leaders and active Sections
now.
We hope to start up a new Venture Section during the Summer and have it fully up and
running for September 2011. We are currently recruiting for this age group with the promise
of an activity filled programme and lots of good fun.
